JRA is continuing to raise funds for the new James A. Buzzard River Education Center in downtown Richmond due to the increased costs of building materials. Donors have continued to support the project and have given approximately $8.2 million towards the $9 million goal in 2023. Thanks to a generous challenge grant from the Bob and Anna Lou Schaberg Foundation every dollar donated to the campaign will be matched - up to $400,000! Make your gift today!
For forty-eight years, the James River Association (JRA) has been the leading voice and guardian for our beloved river. Over those four and half decades, we have seen remarkable progress in the health of the James, transforming the river from one of the nation's most polluted into one of the most improved. However, the James is still a river at risk and the threats facing the river are no less urgent than those we faced in the past.
